Most people might have heard of the term chemical wash for your aircon but may not know when and why do you need one. The common misconception is if I have been doing regular servicing, I do not need any chemical wash for my aircon. It is true that regular servicing helps to reduce dust and dirt in the aircon but there are some parts of internal components which are not thoroughly cleaned through regular servicing.
So what are some of the other reasons that we need chemical wash for our aircons?
- Saves Electricity
A chemical wash will help to remove all the gunk in the cooling coil and fan motor of your aircon. Some people complain that why is my aircon not cold anymore even when I have reduced the temperature on my remote. The main reason is the air coming out from the aircon is blocked by all the dirt and gunk on the coil so it doesn’t help much to reduce the temperature on your remote.
Imagine with all the gunk and dirt, the coil becomes a concrete wall that is blocking air from flowing through the coil. You will try to make it cooler by increasing the fan speed. The actions of decreasing temperature and increasing fan speed increase the usage of electricity but you are essentially wasting electricity. If the gunk and dirt have been removed, the room will feel much cooler even when your aircon is set at a higher temperature and lower fan speed. - Improves Air Quality
Over time, dust and dirt will be accumulated on the coil of the aircon. Therefore the air that is going through the coil will bring about the dust and dirt with it which causes the air in your room and house to be more polluted. If air is blocked by the dirty fan coil, it also reduces air ventilation in the room due to decrease in effectiveness of the fan of the aircon. - Increase the lifespan of your aircon
Chemical wash will make your aircon work more efficiently. You will not overwork your aircon which reduces wear and tear. If you have been doing regular chemical wash, your aircon tends to last longer.
